I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CIBC (Kamloops, BC) in May 2021
Interview
The interview was professional and friendly. There were discussions about experiences, hobbies, and other general small talk. However there was also a case study where I was to review the financials of a real company and make stipulations as to the risks that company would have if they came of a loan, what metrics could be used to accurately measure performance and risk, and overall interpret the statements. This was difficult and took hours.
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at CIBC in Oct 2020
Interview
Two rounds of interviews. All behavioral questions. In the second run of interviews, they let you talk to four different people. The questions are the same but it depends on you to drive the conversation. It's better to connect with people at the company before the interview bc they ask you if you have any connections in the company. It seems like they value networking skills.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CIBC (Montreal, QC) in Apr 2019
Interview
1st interview focused on soft skills --> focused mainly on sales
2nd interview focused on technical skills --> Case study, FCC ratio, current ratio, funded debt to Ebitda (or TNW) , concentration risk, KYC, due dilligence
3rd interview with market VP --> soft skills, you must get the MVP's blessing
****Interview style highly dependent on the team leader/be prepared to be grilled
