I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at ByteDance in Oct 2020
Interview
I have had first three rounds of interview (2 rounds of behavioral and business oriented interviews and 1 round of technical interview). It's quite relaxed. Not very selective. The interviewers are all very respectful.

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at ByteDance (Kuala Lumpur) in Oct 2020
Interview
HR recruiter from China contacted through Whatsapp, pre-interview talk via WA call, after passed, arrange for interview. I did not pass on the 2nd interview.
Here's the unpleasant experience during my 2nd interview;
The interviewer was so pretty, she spoke in English very well but, I'm sorry to say, her Chinese accent was quite disturbing, same goes with the recruiter. From the beginning of the interview she told me that she would take a notes from my answers so she wouldn't look at me in much attention. It's fine for me. During interview, I answered but sometimes I needed to peek on my notes, like a mind map, in order to made my answer more structural, and it was a guidance for me to not missed anything to say. I thought she would fine, but in the other hand, she seemed did not understand my purpose. Then she's questioning about my English ability, she said she could not distinguish if I fluent or not since she saw my eyes gestures. But I said, I made a notes to guide me, I was only given 1 night to prepare this interview, I'm afraid I missed information to gave because of nervous. I explained, I have graduated from international uni in my country, I had experience working abroad with people all over Asia in 1 floor. Those all required English skill. But she seemed doubtful so, I guess, that's what made me didn't pass the interview. I feel she was belittled me, she as an interviewer should be more flexible, understand in psychological matters and do research about the interviewee background. Both of us have lack of ability of using English on different aspect, English is not our mother tongue anyway! So don't be too underestimate on someone else.
