I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at BT Group (Londres, Inglaterra) in Nov 2019
Interview
Really disappointing process. I had enjoyed meeting the Marketing team, but was treated appallingly by the internal recruitment team. Took about a month overall. I applied on LinkedIn and was referred, receiving a call from an internal recruiter the following day. After this initial screening, I was invited to a f2f interview with the hiring manager. I was sent a JD for Marcomms Manager (the email also stated this), leading me to believe the role was more senior than I initially thought.
When I arrived for my first interview, no one turned up for 25 minutes. After 15 minutes or so, the hiring manager called me to say that she couldn't make it and that I would be speaking to some of her team members instead. They arrived 10 minutes later and we had a relatively straightforward interview, going through my background and role-related questions. They were pleasant but it quickly became clear that I'd been given the wrong JD.
I was invited for a second interview by the sheepish internal recruiter who apologised for the hiring manager's no-show. I asked if he'd sent the wrong JD/invitation and after reminding him what he'd sent, he confirmed it was.
I had my second interview with the hiring manager, who apologised again for the no-show. It was again quite straightforward - CV walkthrough and competency questions. I was told I'd hear back quickly but I never heard back, which is pretty poor considering this was my second interview. I sent 2 emails and 2 texts to the internal recruiter, which received no reply. After 3 weeks, I called him, but he avoided it. After 2 interviews, I should at least be entitled to a response/feedback. It's surprising and extremely disappointing to see a company of BT's size offer such a poor experience to prospective employees, giving an impression of total disorganisation at best, or disinterest and contempt for anyone outside the company at worst.
