      IT Snd Systems Security Interview

      Sep 10, 2015
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Watford, East of England, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at BT Group (Watford, East of England, England) in Mar 2015

      Interview

The interview process was registration skye video interview and assessment centre. The next stage was a skype video interview, where I was asked Questions about my CV. So if you are putting anything about a previous job on your C.V., be sure to prepare and remember your roles. There were questions about working in a team. There were questions about your experience at the university. For University students, there will be questions about your degree programme and your expectations. In all, be sure to correlate your answers to all the questions with all the BT values. E,g, "... During my university programme, I developed a flare for securing information systems. I wanted to be able to provide positive "changes" to the world of IT security." There were also technical questions about the OSI model. There were also questions about the latest trends in technology. Ensure you research on that, even if you are not asked, you can chip in an example of the latest trend in technology while answering a question. There were competency questions about stating a time when you effect a technological change or a time when you used technology to solve a problem or a time when you worked as a team. The point line is that every question is centred about you proving that you have a strong genuine interest for technology and that your personality conforms with BT values. The next stage was the Assessment centre. Four phases: Group Discussion, SWOT ANalysis, Presentation and Technical Interview and this arrangement can be in any order. Group Discussion tips: ALWAYS ENGAGE OTHERS (ESPECIALLY THE QUIET ONES) during the group discussion. You will be in a room with about 5 people. Each of you will be given a separate proposal of a business project and will be timed. You must read the project and as a group agree to adopt one of the proposals within the specified time. The assessors/interviewers will be in the same room with you. Your proposal must not be picked. It is a test to see how well you can work as a team and how well you can sell an idea.So find a balance during the discussion, ensure you engage others by calling them by their names. Ensure you provide strong reasons about why you think your proposal is a great prospect and why you think it should be adopted. Avoid confrontations with the other candidates who may not understand this. If someone challenges your proposal. You can say "Hmmm...intersting view...but can we hear the opinion of John (another candidate)" after which you then still suggest that your proposal is a great idea. The discussion is timed so you will need to work with time. about a few minutes before the time elapses, smartly move the motion for the group to adopt the proposal you feel is the best, if the discussion is not tending towards adopting your proposal. No worries about that. In all, be smart, be respectful, dont be intimidated and also be enthusiastic about your proposal. DO NOT INTERRUPT OTHERS WHEN THEY ARE SPEAKING. SWOT (STRNGHTS, WEAKNESS, OPPORTUNITIES,THREATS) ANALYSIS: For the SWOT ANALYSIS, u will be given a proposal to a business idea by BT. You would be expected to conduct a Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and threat Analysis on this proposal. However, I stongly recommend you do your own research and try a couple of examples of SWOT analysis in preparation before that day. Ensure you write legigbly so that all your points can be clearly seen and understood. You will be timed. So ensure you practice and remember your points. After completing the Analysis, your sheets will be taken from you and you will be interviewed separetly regarding you analysis. Technical questions will be asked. So be sure you prepare well enough for the SWOT. PRESENTATION: You will be given a presentation topic related to technology on the day you get your invitation to the assessment centre. However, ensure you practice and prepare well enough in front of a friend or colleague. Remember to use your hands and body language when preparing. DOnt just stand like a tree and make a presentation. ALso remember to take a few steps when presentation. Engage the audience of the presentation. For instance..."Tecchnology has made lives easier,"YOU" can now make online bank transactions, etc" and when you say "YOU", you point your hands in their directions. I recommend you watch videos of some excellent speech makers like Ben Carson and Lamido Sanusi. notice their body language. Technical Interview: This phase is a face to face interview regarding your understanding of technology. There will be conceptual questions. Like "What would be your first step as a an IT security personell if you were to assess an organization's information security system". Doing a research on Firewalls and other Network security techniques would be good. God bless you.
