I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at American Express (New York, NY) in Jul 2015
Interview
Applied on their careers site. A recruiter later contacted me about the role. We spoke about my resume and salary expectations. They later proceeded by scheduling interviews with 3 managers (for 30 minutes each).
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
They asked me a few behavioral questions based on my resume. But to much surprise, they asked a few unexpected questions like: how and where did you research AMEX for this interview? Other than that, the hiring manager went into detail about the group and role. Very new group without structure, processes, reporting metrics, nor a financial data system. Due to all of this, the position required lots of long hours at the office ongoing. Wouldnt have accepted even if an offer was made.
I applied online. I interviewed at American Express in Feb 2014
Interview
I had an initial phone interview with an HR contact. There were so many moments of awkward silence after my responses that I tried to cut, but after a while it was out of control. I followed up our conversation with a thank you e-mail, and was expecting to hear back from her. However, after 2 weeks I still had not heard anything, so I reached out with an e-mail asking if there was any update on my status as a candidate. After over a week there has still be no response. In my opinion this is just unprofessional, and I would have appreciated even a system-generated e-mail stating that they were no longer going to pursue me as a candidate.
