I had high expectations going into this interview, especially considering the company’s reputation for being customer-oriented. However, based on my experience, I can't help but question how they treat their customers if this is how they behave toward potential employees.
Throughout the process, I felt I was not treated with the respect or courtesy expected in a professional setting. The interviewers seemed disengaged, frequently interrupting my responses and giving me little opportunity to fully explain my thoughts and demonstrate my qualifications. Their tone was dismissive, and it felt as though they weren’t genuinely listening to my answers. The rushed and almost condescending manner in which the questions were asked only added to the discomfort.
This was, without a doubt, the worst interview experience I have ever had.
That said, I want to emphasize that this was just one experience, and I understand that not everyone at the company may behave this way. However, a single negative interaction like this can significantly impact the perception of a company’s values and culture.
I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at American Express (New York, NY) in Apr 2024
