The Amazon interview preparation for software engineers is a tough task as the interview process is challenging. The questions are tricky and cover a wide range of topics. But, how hard is it to get a job at Amazon? The Amazon interview process is consistent.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Aug 2021
Interview
Standard interview process. The first round was supposed to be an online test, but they changed it to a phone screen. They are pretty equivalent. If you have the experience you don't have to go through both.
The phone screen was 30 mins behavioral and 30 mins coding. The interviewer was very nice and asked meaningful questions. The programming question was not too hard. Quickly moved to the final round.
The final interview was 4 loop interviews each with 30 mins behavioral and 30 mins functional. Behavioral each focuses on one leadership principle. Functional 3 coding rounds and one system design. I liked the format and questions, but the interviewers were not friendly. They were not mean or anything, but really dry and discouraging. Even though I cleared the interview, I didn't feel good about it.

Question 1
Can't tell the questions. But the programming questions question were doable in 30 mins. They don't ask 'aha' questions where the only way one can come up with the solution in 30 mins is by knowing the solution beforehand. I would suggest practicing Algo and DS questions a lot so when something similar comes up, you can quickly code it. It's not hard but with follow-up questions and all, they ask for a lot in 30 mins.
