      Software Developer Engineer II Interview

      Apr 22, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Amazon

      Interview

A headhunter from Amazon reached out to me to convince me to apply. Every time we scheduled a call they would cancel last minute with no explanation. Eventually I went through to the online test without speaking to the headhunter which I passed to go through the next round. After passing the online test I received an email asking me to input my availability for a phone interview, which I promptly filled in, and an email from the headhunter again scheduling a call. The headhunter again cancelled the call and I heard nothing back for a week so I decided to reach out to get an update. The response was “we are sorry for the misunderstanding but we’ve already moved on to the offer phase, but we have other roles available if you would like to set up a phone interview for those” I replied saying I would be open to the conversation and asked them to call me the next day. After not getting a reply I asked if they could send me a meeting invite around their schedule instead, which they did for the end of the week, unfortunately they also cancelled that call without any explanation. At this point I have no idea if I’m still being considered or not but I feel like they have been very disrespectful of my time and if this is how they act to people they invite to apply then I dread to think how bad the experience is for anyone else.

      Interview

I completed an initial recruiter screening and then moved forward to the online assessment (OA). I didn’t prepare ahead of time, and the assessment consisted of two LeetCode medium-level problems. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to solve them successfully and did not pass the OA stage.
