I applied online. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Nov 2020
Interview
Interviewed for an applied scientist position. Failed during the virtual on-site. Had 5 rounds. ML breadth, ML deep dive, interview with the hiring manger, coding, and bar raisers. The initial 3 went relatively well. Couldn't solve the coding problem because it was not actually a pure coding problem. It was a probability/stats problem. 4 interviewers out of 5 had pretty bad accents. It made it even more difficult for me.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Lots of LP behavioral questions like tell me about a time when you solved a complex problem/process?
Phone screen interview
Then onsite interviews: 5 interviews two on coding and three on science and a tech talk
You choose a topic for the presentation
The science interviews are: one on science depth, one on science breath and one on science applications
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Question on optimizers; comparing gradient decent, adam optimizer etc
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Londres, Inglaterra) in Jun 2026
Interview
After applying online, I received an invitation for an one hour online interview. The interview consisted of questions about my previous work, and then a series of questions on deep learning (specifically on LLMs), and finally a LeetCode style coding question (number of islands in a 2D grid).
Applied for Amazon AGI. After first round, it will go into full round of multiple interviews. Lots of modern LLM training technic questions. There are still some behavioral questions, but less than general Amazon roles.
