I applied in-person. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at AT&T (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2009
Interview
my interview was many years ago. i spent the last 20 years with the company in the data networking sales field. following the interview, there was a 2 hour sales assessment that had nothing to do with the actual day to day job; it was very poor as it did not relate to the actual position .
I applied online. I interviewed at AT&T (Dallas, TX) in May 2010
Interview
Application on line, 2-3weeks for HR response, 2-6 weeks to schedule phone interview, 2-4 weeks for second live interview, 2-3 weeks to find out status, 2weeks for offer
I applied online and got a call to schedule an interview and had one interview over the phone. The questions were standard and there were two people on the interview. It was my first real interview ever so I was nervous but at the end they told me I did a good job. I was called with a job offer a week later and accepted.

Question 1
I don't remember the exact question, but it was basic programming about writing a function to randomly choose 100 numbers. If you have taken a couple of introductory courses in programming you should be fine.
