I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ASDA (Leeds, England) in Jun 2016
Interview
Good interview. The interviewer was a little late but apologised and started with questions about my work history, problems that I had overcome and current working arrangements. There were a few competency based questions that were predictable and easy to answer.

Question 1
Tell me about a time you changed a customers viewpoint
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at ASDA (Doncaster, England) in Sep 2016
Interview
Applied online, was sent to a small 40 or so question ASDA personality test. It asks questions regarding "which of the following statements descibes you better" and questions which asks what your prioritise in certain scenarios, e.g "A customer has fallen and injured themselves, which do you do first?" Common sense and always putting customer needs first makes the test pretty simple.
Next I was invited via phone call to an interview a day after I applied, which may not be the case for some stores but i was pleased with how quick this was. It was a group interview with the "Personnel Manager" and other section leaders which were switched out throughout the interview as they were needed in their departments. The group interview had about 14 candidates for different roles in the store gather around a table and were in turn asked to do activities like describing the person next to you to the group and other small talk around the table marshalled by the personnel manager. Informal and a good ice breaker to make you feel more comfortable.
We were then divided into 2 groups and asked to look around the store for promotions and offers and come up with group ideas with pros and cons for these on a sheet that was given to us prior. This was watched over by 2 section leaders who follow you and take notes on who is engaging and trying to be active in the team. After completing this we were asked to get a product and act out an advert for it. We were given 15 minutes to prepare and then asked to perform infront of the group in the same teams. Then some form filling in about available working hours and departments and we were sent away.
Another phone call invited me to a formal interview a day later, this was conducted by the General Store Manager and the Personnel manager I had met in the group interview. They created a comfy atmosphere in which they ask about yourself and press on relevant information you give them. Examples are that i was descirbing my previous job and when appropriate they would ask for more detail on like "How would you colleagues describe you in 1 word", "What did you find was difficult about your previous job" and "Why retail/customer service?" I answered honestly and came away thinking i probably should have been answering with more keywords rather than brute honesty. I described myself as "daft" and straight after just thought "Why the hell did i say that over "hardworking"..
I was called the next day after the interview to offer me a place, it was an very quick experience.

Question 1
What made you want to work in Retail / Customer Service?
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at ASDA (Ashton-under-Lyne, England) in May 2015
Interview
Was the usual team building exercise's, firstly split into groups of 2 where you have to find out about each other then report your findings to the rest of the group. Then the room is split into two groups and you have to write down all the asda products you would take on a trip to space.
Key is to make yourself heard but not at the expense of other peoples opinions.
