I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at ASDA (Armadale, West Lothian, Scotland) in Sep 2018
Interview
Online application > online assessment > group interview for 2 1/2 hours. Group interview was actually fun and laid back feeling. Had to make an advert to sell fairy liquid tablets and some laundry softener then present to the manager. Then on the floor for 30 mins just putting out stock and tidying up then a 1:1 interview. Spent ages applying and then online assessment and then 2 1/2 hours at the actual interview and they can’t even have the common decency to send you an email to say you have been unsuccessful. My interview went great and the guy was really positive with me and I never heard back after 7 days. They had said at interview if you don’t hear you have been unsuccessful which I think is a bit poor considering the time and process involved.

Question 1

Interview
It was a group interview. Candidates were taken into a room and sat round a table. It wasn't really a typical interview, it was more ice breaking and team building activities.
The first task involved passing a toilet roll around the table and everyone taking as many pieces off as they like. They must then write a fact on each piece of toilet roll they have ripped off and read it to the group.
The next task was having to make a tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows in small groups. This was to monitor how candidates interacted with one another.
If they receive a job offer, they arrange a time to come in with documentation to photocopy and as part of a casual chat answer some standard interview questions - so there's proof the questions were asked at some point.

Asda Magic days are done in groups, there are some teambuilding exercises (e.g. we took down as many facts about someone else in the group as possible and then shared them among the group) and videos to watch and answer questions on, then you are taken for a one-on-one interview (which is more of a quick, informal kind of chat and really nothing too taxing or difficult)
