I applied online. I interviewed at ASDA (Glasgow, Escocia) in May 2011
Interview
Although you apply for a specific role, the interview process is generic and everyone is interviewed together. I was invited to the 'Asda Magic' assessment evening and was with a group of between 10-15 people. Initially everyone is asked to introduce themselves and tell everyone an interesting fact about themselves as a type of 'ice-breaker'.
Next you will be split into groups and asked to complete a group task, ours was to compile a list of 10 things you would bring on a spaceship at the end of the world etc etc. It's basically a task to see how you communicate with others and if you are able to listen effectively and work as a team. It's really nothing too heavy!
Next you will be interviewed by a manager one-to-one before the evening is concluded. This again isn't too heavy, the questions are generally about customer service.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ASDA in Jan 2011
Interview
Online application, group selection, one to one interview. Nothing unexpected.
To get through the online section you have to do my small amount of research into the beliefs and values so that you can answer some questions based on these. Just a case of answering what they want to hear.

we have to introduce our partner sitting our right in front of others candidates. Then we have given 30 sec to arrange ourselves in our date of birth order. Then half of us went for floor visit where we have asked to arrange shelves. then we had one on one interview with one of HR member. I had been asked questions about Punctuality and its importance among colleagues, example of good customer service, example of team work, importance of uniform etc.

Question 1
As I am student having no work experience, for me example of good customer service was the most difficult question.
