I applied online. I interviewed at ALDI (Epping, Victoria) in Jan 2024
Interview
It was good, and it was a video interview where I had to record my self. It was nice and easy.
You get 30 seconds to prepare after the question is shown and then 1 minute each to answer. There were 5 questions in total.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at ALDI (Belconnen) in Nov 2023
Interview
It was a group interview - roughly 15 people showed up, run by the store manager and two others. It began in their break room, where we went around the room one by one and told everyone about ourselves, why we wanted to work at Aldi, and one hobby or interest we had. Then the group was split in two, where one stayed behind for 1v1 interviews, and the other had a store tour.
The 1v1 interviews consisted of being asked about your background, a strength and weakness in a previous job position, and a question around customer safety.
The store tour was a complete one, with explanations about how things work and each different part of the store, including registers, isles and the store rooms.
The manager and other interviewers were extremely friendly and positive, and keen to answer all questions and engage with everyone.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Q: Tell us about your backstory.
Q: What was one strength and one weakness in your previous job?
Q: If you were on the register with a long line of customers waiting, and one customer spilt water or some other liquid substance over the floor, would you prioritise the split liquid or serve the customers first and then deal with the spill?
Applied online, then got a video interview a few days later. Completely average, expected for big companies like Aldi. You are speaking to a camera to be prepared to add your own enthusiasm to the mix. Didn't get the job so don't know what they wanted exactly.. I filled out that I was always available on the job form. I think that is the only reason I even got to the interview stage.
