Hands down the worst experience of my career
Pros
- Decent salary if you can stand all the nonsense
Cons
- Non-existent engineering culture. Technically a fintech company but rather a lot more fin than tech. - Huge bureaucracy with strict processes that do not match real world needs. - Well meant but misguided team performance metrics tied to yearly bonuses creating cobra effects to game the metric rather than fulfill their spirit. - Lots of pointless social meetings that while not explicitly mandatory, not attending is frowned upon. - While incorporated in the UK, most of the engineering seems natively spanish speaking with bad english. - Staff I’ve interacted with hold job titles way above their actual skill level. - They are drowning in technical debt, including the code in the new architecture that’s supposed to solve it.
