Eurovision Services is seeking highly motivated MCR Broadcast Operator to become part of our Network Operations Centre (NOC). She/he will join our global Operations department in Madrid, Spain.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION

The MCR Broadcast Operator is responsible for the setup, monitoring, and orchestration of live transmissions and global events across our Eurovision Global Network, in line with the highest quality standards required by our customers. In this role, you will also provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support to our customers as part of our 24/7 operational support service.

In detail, you will:

• Manage the set-up, monitoring and coordination of live transmissions from the NOC.
• Provide outstanding first line technical support (Level 1 and Level 2) for all transmission services and equipment on our Eurovision Global Network.
• Report faults and modifications on equipment or at any important technical point across the network, in line with our Technical Assistance Center.
• Take the temporary measures required in order to ensure the business continuity of our broadcast services, ensuring consistent high quality through active monitoring.
• Apply and document preventive maintenance procedures to avoid possible outages.
• Support client onboarding processes, including preliminary designs and proof-of-concept testings.
• Provide technical feedback and incident reporting to other operational units.
• Participate in event projects to provide technical guidance and engineering solutions.
• Travel and take part in outside missions when required.
• Produce workflows and network designs documentation in English.
• Provide outstanding customer service to our clients (internal and external).

In this position, you will be required to work on shifts, including weekends, overnight, and on-call coverage on a rotating basis.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 3+ years of proven experience operating and monitoring broadcast systems (satellite communications, fibre, streaming)
• Excellent knowledge of broadcast and media workflows
• Hands-on experience with broadcast equipment and infrastructure (installation, operation and maintenance)
• Experience with satellite transmission operations, especially in SNG/DSNG environments
• Proven experience with MPEG compression and multiplexing, DVB-ASI and DVB-IP
• Proven experience with signal switching and processing: ASI/SDI matrix, standard conversion, monitoring systems, quality assurance of video signals and the ability to identify anomalies
• Knowledge of video over IP applications, specifically unicast, multicast, TCP/UDP, IGMP, routing and switching
• Experience identifying and resolving common broadcast issues (signal quality problems, black frames, audio loss, etc.)
• Ability to quickly determine and isolate problem’s sources, easily handling redundancy switching and failover mechanisms
• Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work under pressure with a high sense of urgency
• Strong computer skills: networking, streaming, first line maintenance
• Self-management and ability to work independently with limited supervision
• Customer orientation and ability to communicate effectively with clients and partners during operations
• Excellent collaboration skills
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken

ADDED VALUE

Additional experience in the following areas would be a bonus:

• Experience working on live sports events in a broadcasting environment
• Knowledge of digital video concepts (container formats, codecs, compression schemes, tools, best practices, etc.)
• ITIL certification
