Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a Sales Technician based in Northern Spain to drive the development of our fertiliser business. The role will ensure customer loyalty while identifying and securing new commercial opportunities, combining field-based agronomic advisory work with proactive commercial management with customers, distributors and strategic partners. The role provides long term development potential for someone eager to demonstrate their skills and experience in the fast-paced soft commodities environment.

Business Overview

ED&F Man Liquid Products Division is the leading global supplier of molasses, molasses blends and related liquid products, as well as dry products for the animal feed and fermentation industries. We are pioneers and traders in liquid agricultural by- and co-products, offering expertise in animal nutrition and feed dispense technology to farmers.

We work closely with manufacturers such as rum and yeast producers to provide quality products from sustainable sources. Our capabilities include sourcing, shipping, storage and distribution of molasses, molasses blends and other sugar co-products, as well as vegetable and fish oils.

Key Accountabilities

• Develop and grow the fertiliser business across Northern Spain, while expanding coverage in Northern Portugal.
• Manage and retain an existing portfolio of distributors and key customers, ensuring long-term partnerships and high levels of service.
• Plan and execute regular field visits to maintain close customer contact and identify new opportunities.
• Provide technical agronomic advice, including crop nutrition recommendations, field trials, demonstrations and after-sales support.
• Identify and introduce new product opportunities, including solutions derived from sugar industry co-products.
• Collaborate closely with strategic partners, including acting as technical liaison with ACOR in relation to fertiliser plant operations and associated projects.
• Add value to sugar foams and related by-products through technical monitoring, proposal development and commercial promotion.
• Maintain accurate CRM records, ensuring traceability of activities, opportunity follow-up and clear reporting.

• Desarrollar y hacer crecer el negocio de fertilizantes en la zona Norte de España, ampliando asimismo la cobertura en el norte de Portugal.
• Gestionar y fidelizar la cartera actual de distribuidores y clientes clave, garantizando relaciones sólidas y un alto nivel de servicio.
• Planificar y realizar visitas presenciales periódicas para asegurar un seguimiento continuo y detectar nuevas oportunidades.
• Proporcionar asesoramiento técnico agronómico en campo, incluyendo recomendaciones de nutrición y manejo de cultivos, demostraciones, ensayos y soporte postventa.
• Identificar oportunidades de negocio en nuevos cultivos y sectores prioritarios.
• Introducir y promover nuevos productos, incluyendo soluciones derivadas de subproductos de la industria azucarera.
• Colaborar estrechamente con socios estratégicos clave, incluyendo la función de enlace técnico con ACOR en relación con la planta de fertilizantes y proyectos asociados.
• Aportar valor añadido a las espumas de azucarería y otros coproductos mediante seguimiento técnico, desarrollo de propuestas y promoción comercial.
• Mantener un uso riguroso del CRM, asegurando la trazabilidad de las acciones, el seguimiento estructurado de oportunidades y un reporting claro.

Skills and Experience

• University degree in agricultural engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous professional experience is advantageous, however recent graduates with internship, academic project or practical experience will be valued.
• Strong commercial mindset with the ability to build trust-based, long-term relationships with farmers, distributors and industry stakeholders.
• Solid agronomic knowledge with the ability to translate technical concepts into practical field recommendations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening and adaptability to different audiences.
• Proactive, autonomous and well-organised, with the ability to plan routes, prioritise tasks and manage follow-up effectively.
• Resilient and persistent, with the ability to manage long sales cycles and negotiations.
• Competent in Microsoft Office 365 and comfortable using CRM systems for structured reporting.
• Intermediate level of English for communication with corporate headquarters and suppliers.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel frequently across Northern Spain.
• Preferably based in Zaragoza, Huesca, Lleida, Navarra or La Rioja.

• Titulación universitaria en Ingeniería Agronómica, Ingeniería Técnica Agrícola o disciplina afín.
• No se requiere experiencia profesional previa; se valorarán prácticas, proyectos universitarios o actividades que demuestren iniciativa, trato con clientes y ganas de aprender.
• Clara orientación comercial y al cliente, con capacidad para generar confianza y construir relaciones a largo plazo.
• Interés y curiosidad técnica en el ámbito agronómico y de soluciones fertilizantes.
• Excelentes habilidades de comunicación y empatía, con capacidad de escucha activa y adaptación del mensaje a agricultores, distribuidores e industria.
• Perfil proactivo y orientado al trabajo en campo, con constancia en las visitas y el seguimiento.
• Capacidad de organización y autonomía, incluyendo planificación de rutas, priorización y disciplina en la gestión de oportunidades.
• Resiliencia y perseverancia para gestionar ciclos de venta largos, objeciones y procesos de negociación.
• Manejo fluido de Microsoft Office 365 y familiaridad con sistemas CRM para un reporting estructurado.
• Nivel de inglés intermedio para comunicación con corporativo y proveedores.
• Permiso de conducir en vigor y alta disponibilidad para viajar con frecuencia por la zona Norte de España.
• Residencia preferente en Zaragoza, Huesca, Lleida, Navarra o La Rioja.
