I probably made the mistake of trying to answer the questions from the technical interview with other questions and expecting to get more clarity on the scenario. While the expectation for a Director of Engineering was different, I was interviewed for an Engineering Manager position and I felt they've measured me as a technical individual contributor instead of a lead.
