Leadership changes have affected the company

Pros

Good benefits plan, full time hours, share purchase match , group retirement contribution match

Cons

the culture. Telus likes to say that the future is friendly but it is anything but that for employees. There was a considerable shift in executive leadership over the last few years and with that change came changes to the culture that Telus had been known for. A welcoming, collaborative and fearless workplace has turned into one that is full of intimidation, bullying and leading by fear. It is a shame that this once great company has become another faceless corporation where the employees are nothing more than numbers. If you dont think that this is true, take a look at how many jobs this company has discontinued over the last 24 months.

Pros

4 weeks vacation to start even if working only part time as an EAP counsellor; good benefits

Cons

EAP in-person counsellors required to see 7 clients (each with 50 minute sessions) a day. My professional college says 5 in a day is a lot. 30 minutes for lunch. 30 minutes for ‘case management’- in which you have to ensure all case notes are done PLUS complete any research for (never mind emailing) resources for clients. And forget about having time to check your emails or have a conversation with a coworker. Impossible to do the quality of work that you’d like to with clients. Regularly took work home with me to do. Infuriating
