Pros

- People work hard and are committed to making a difference - Always a chance to take on more/new work - Career progression from low to mid range bands

Cons

- People's efforts are constantly being undone by political changes that force a blame culture down the chain - Workload is too heavy across the board - Technology is slow to develop and support the work - Low job stability looking forward at breakup of the service

Pros

Decent enough pay, with a defined pay banding, good holiday allowances too. Joined the service to help patients but soon felt like I was on a production line.

Cons

Low morale throughout staff, terrible training, poor man management and communication by managers. Can only comment on my own lab though so maybe different elsewhere! Very few opportunities to progress past Band 6.
