Management doesn't have a clear vision of where they are going. There have been several rounds of layoffs this year. No one knows if there will be more rounds. There is a constant fear another company will buy them out.

Then, if you're male or a veteran, the harassment begins. Incompetent females get promoted to management across the board. Bad management, summer project death marches (no vacations, work Saturdays) year after year, no promotion opportunity, no training, constant bad reviews. Do a year here if you have to do it and get the heck out.
