Pros

The digital department is well above average when it comes to the importance of digital accessibility and being receptive to digital accessibility considerations in the product lifecycle. The department head is brilliant and has great leadership skills.

Cons

Unfortunately, the department has a Senior Manager that is a persistent bully and intermittently unprofessional. The behavior is all the more damaging since we're all remote; I dread out 1-on-1's as they're historically more passive-agression and mockery (overt and undermining my intelligence) than constructive, tactical, or productive. Bitter-sweet, I finally asked a colleague about their experience with this Sr. Manager, and this Manager has a reputation for being toxic (so it's not just me, at least). Three other colleagues under this manager have left because of his behavior (*including prior reports to HR with no improvement), and another is on their way out (with multi-year Hilton tenures). I am trying to find another jobas well, despite loving the work. It's not healthy, and there's no where else to go within Hilton's digital accessibility discipline to distance from this Sr. Manager.

Pros

PTO program is nice with regularly accruing, rolling hours. A big effort to have fun on-site events for team. Ability to move to different departments, positions, or hotels anywhere.

Cons

Handling of COVID was atrocious internally. The company laid off thousands of people, expected those remaining to do quadruple the work, failed to communicate to anyone what the long term plan was for return to work, and then the CEO has the nerve to tout financial gains in 2020. Gross. Salaried management positions are grossly underpaid compared to other industries, especially for a company expecting managers to work a minimum of 50 hours per week. They will slowly milk out every last ounce of effort from anyone. They flex on work/life balance, but there is NO work life balance as long as you are cutting hourly schedules. You could give everything and you're still only a number and replaceable. Corporate is a mess. Any directives and standards are not planned well, not tested, rolled out in a wild way and the Lobby constantly has contradicting standards documents.

Pros

Great team environment and opportunities for advancement.

Cons

If not working for a corporate owned or managed property, you will be subject to owners that may not invest in the property in a way that would help the guest and employee experience.
