Solid job, but was laid off

Pros

Great resources, lots of wonderful people, huge huge company so plenty of cool parties and benefits- not to mention the cheap cafeteria! Also always have updated tools and software which is unusual for a big company. Great 401K match and healthcare.

Cons

Everything moves like molasses. As with big companies (especially publishing) when things are going bad, it only gets addressed when it's too late. My whole team was laid off with probably a year of decline where something could have been addressed- but its the slow ignoring of problems and pretending publishing is doing great that will cause these big problems. As with big companies too, meetings about meetings are king- and doing any actual work falls to the side. Also only 2 weeks vacation for your first 3 years, and thats terrible compared to all the new modern companies out there.

Pros

Good earning potential, pretty lax environment, as long as you produce you dont really get messed with.

Cons

Products are PURE GARBAGE. You spend a week, a month, a year cultivating relationships with clients and customers and within 3 months of "making the sale" you will be dodging their calls. The websites are third party, open-source trash, which isnt the worst part, they then actually out-source the development of the sites to third world countries to save on even that which then comes back to the US for proof check before going to the client. The DMS offered is hands-off, they wont proactively plan a marketing strategy, everything is reactive, basically if they dont hear from the client and the client pays the bill they wont do anything until there is a complaint or threat of cancellation.

Pros

Close to a car wash

Cons

Two Directors, old school , corny sweat shop factory environment, they have no clue , and are out of touch with reality. Like two old car salesman, cheap sales tactics and down right lie to clients. Most clients have been burned so you will be searching for fresh blood to sell the most current renamed bag of goods.
