Pros

As far as Trucking goes, this is a Very easy job. you clock in find your trailer in an assigned spot. Hook up your set. They give you plenty of time to do a pre- trip inspection. Then you just head to your destination. There rarely bothered you unless you were late out the gate or didn't make your arrival time. No forced over time. The managers as far as Mike and Matt were very helpful when I worked there. The Dispatcher Melanie is one of the best employees there. She's knows everything and if she doesn't she would help get you an answer. Most Helpful person there.

Cons

Not enough work, worked here for 4 years. Only the first year that I worked there did we have 40 plus hours. Unless you had years under your belt already with the company expect to only work less than 30 hours. we mostly got work the first of the month then it would be dead by the last 2-3 weeks. We consistently had moments of being furloughed. instead of doing the job you applied for you were sent to help Fedex Ground to pick up trailers at the Rail yard under the staff of Ground. which they were no help or didn't care. or you worked the dock to get your hours at a lesser pay. Drivers aren't properly trained on the dock. They randomly stick you with an employee who doesn't know how to train. Good look finding them for help, due to the dock filling with forklift drivers and pallets everywhere. it's a huge hazard. Iv almost been ran over multiple times from forklift drivers not paying attention. The supervisors are no help on the dock, consistently passing employees from one dock stand to the other. Blaming one another instead of taking charge to help the process move smoothly. The staff at some of the other fedex freight facilities are unprofessional. They will ignore your calls or give attitude if your not one of there guys from their hub. Management likes to play as if they don't know what's coming as far as the season. slowing down or getting more work.

Pros

The pay, retirement benefits, and the way you are treated are definitely good. Weekends and most holidays off. Yearly annual raises + two bonuses per year. Safety/PSP award cookouts. Lots of new equipment. Overtime after 8 hours daily.

Cons

A lot of dock work in the beginning, but hey no one is going to pay you driver pay ($31+ in the beginning) to drive a forklift around. This company is what you make of it. Have a positive and growth mindset and you will do good. Have a negative mindset and you will have a miserable time. Seniority is everything around here, but that goes with most trucking companies. Expect to do mostly dock work in the beginning if working at a big terminal, if at a small terminal you'll mostly be a combo driver doing city and dock. The dock isn't as bad as most drivers make it seem to be.
