Pros
I absolutely love working here. I have the most wonderful kind and supportive colleagues in the world. I am openly neurodivergent and it is a safe place to be so and I get all the love and help and support that I need. My favourite thing about working here of course are the other engineers. We have an amazing internal coding questions channel, I have found loads of mentorship and help and support from other engineers, and we even have a channel for sharing tech blogs in which I love as I am a tech blogger. I absolutely love my teammates. The colleagues around you are all incredibly knowledgeable and talented, you will work with people who have written books etc. and have had a major influence in the field. Everyone is so talented. It's like being surrounded by brilliant talented like-minded people who work really hard. It's so cool. But again the thing I love the most is the hands on support I get from other engineers. It's a really exciting space, great space to make an impact. Really exciting tech and we are driving innovation. We work in Python and Django so you will need to know those and/or learn them for the interview (I learned them specially and went intensely and made it through). Literally what's not to love. Love the senior management, loads of opportunities for growth. Amazing perks like free fruit, unlimited holidays (within reason) and I just absolutely love the job on every level and the freedom that I have to define my own working style. Also love the certainty here, have left behind the startup life, it's like still working for a startup but with the financial stability, and it's worth it. So much space for innovation and growth. Everything is fast changing here everyday - you will love it here.
Cons
My one challenge is a lack of formal management structure but again with the lovely aforementioned colleagues I am thriving. My manager is absolutely incredible but there is less 1:1 time then I am used to. However if you are self driven and self motivated and if you are confident enough to seek out your own opportunities then you can make it work well!
