Pros

Challenging, fast paced, above average salary, great colleagues, self-learning and development encouraged. I found great mentors here, although I had to take any and all effort to identify and find the subject matter expert (one who has the ability timewise of course), foster the relationship, and was extremely lucky with who my colleagues were. There is ample opportunity for self development through courses, workshops, etc. Vacation and benefits arel amazing.

Cons

There is absolutely no career development plan system, nor will one materialize even if you speak with leadership multiple times per day/week/month about anything relating to this topic. I was not allowed to attend industry professional and/or subject matter conferences due to cost restrictions (other's in same position were able to depending on BU). Direct line manager on up had literally no understanding of what my position entailed, or what I was working on at any given time (despite myself personally setting up weekly or bi-weekly status update / project management plans. Manager blatantly lied on yearly review bc I took actions that were at the minimal ethical, but also defied SLT guidance to manage project in a manner that would lead to reporting Inaccurate information to government bodies.....co-workers out of this world, but management (mostly) is incompetent, ignorant, unethical, or all of the above.

Pros

deep pockets unasailable market share in Germany good process engineering skills focus on environment

Cons

bureacratic, cold, aloof, stifling duplicitous - none of the statements made during the takeover of Engelhard turned out to be true weak, dishonest, pathetic management - starting with the team that integrated Engelhard If you're not German you have no future with the company at all Weak R&D low-end, commodity business focus - inevitably will lose out due to rise of Middle East higher-end chemical businesses, US energy cost advantage, and aging, shrinking European market

Pros

Nothing that I can think of. I'm still working here and really want to quit.

Cons

Overtime is a culture there. You won't get off work on time. Managers are always not there when you are facing difficulties. Workload is extremely heavy, yet they will not increase headcount. Corporate greed 1000%; minimum empathy for employees who work for them. No parking space available; You have to pay quite an expensive parking fee everyday if you drive to work. No chance of promotion as all the upper positions are occupied. Does NOT provide work-life balance to employees. Benefits given are just similar to any other companies, yet they expect us to do more and forfeit our free time. What a joke! My health has worsen everyday sicne I joined the copmpany, the biggest regret I had in my life is joining this awful company.
