Pros

In spite of the CEO sending an unbelievably immature company-wide email calling his own employees "cowards" for writing negative reviews on Glassdoor, I'm proud to see that many have finally taken the step to speak out against the toxic company culture and write honest and FAIR assessments for prospective employees.

Cons

Every constructive criticism I thought of has already been voiced by fellow employees. So I'd like to take a different take and use AlphaSights' own marketing materials to point out just how phony this company is. As of this writing, there is a picture on this Glassdoor page that shows a group of employees smiling, pointing, and even laughing voraciously at a whiteboard with a puzzling two dimensional graph. The x-axis is labelled "time" and the y-axis "$". There is a straight line with a slope of what appears to be exactly 1 that ascends into the upper-right hand corner. The area under this line is labelled "SYNERGY." What the heck? How is it that all these supposedly happy employees are so excited and bemused by this absolutely meaningless graph? Is there some sort of hidden meaning that only the brightest and best are able to discern? What does it mean? That $ will increase with time? That SYNERGY will increase $? Either AlphaSights has just cracked a brilliantly novel business strategy (and made it public to the world) or this photo, like many things shown to prospective AS recruits, was staged. I could go on, but I'm sure you'll find something to question soon enough. Words to anyone considering AlphaSights: think carefully. Very carefully.

Vacuum salesman, or Analyst?

Pros

Note: Glassdoor reviews are required to be written by Analysts during their first month on the job, which heavily skews the ratings in favor of the company. Your first month is not nearly as indicative of your entire experience at AlphaSights. Aside from that, there are fun, ambitious, and bright people currently working here. The office is quite social as the company is fairly young in age, and there are many social events that take place in and out of the office. Can be a very "college 2.0" feel.

Cons

For good reason, there has been a mass exodus from AlphaSights in recent months. Employees are grossly dissatisfied with pay, management, hours, and the work itself. "Analyst" is a misnomer, as there is no analysis involved in this job. Employees are measured solely on the number of calls they sell and not on their overall contribution to the firm. As mentioned above, the majority of employees, including management, are in their 20s and lack significant experience in running a company. As a result, it is terribly mismanaged and unprofessional. Management is predatory towards entry level employees and ill prepared to deal with the rapid changes the firm must undergo. Overall dreadful place to work.

Pros

- Very nice office - Stocked kitchen with beer for after work (which can be very late) - Good compensation - Frequent company events in and out of the office

Cons

- Upper Management is tenured and out of touch with what is actually going on. They don't add any value and don't do anything on a daily basis besides catch up with people (which helps no one) - Hours are getting longer and your success is largely up to what client accounts you've been given to run - Your interest in specific clients is not taken into account, you're staffed based on organizational needs - It is difficult to keep new employees motivated...consistently hiring curious, smart, driven individuals and then not challenging them creates issues for those trying to lead - The "opportunity" you get to lead is put on top of your other responsibilities so the longer you're here the more overwhelming it gets
