Pros

Made amazing friends through us all being depressed over the job.

Cons

Picture this: you are a highly experienced professional with years of expertise in a specific industry and have a busy life. Your phone is ringing - unknown number. 5 minutes later, another call. 5 minutes after, another call, so on and so forth. You are also receiving emails on a daily basis requesting you to share "non confidential information" about your expertise on a consulting call. You are saturated on all means on communication: calls, emails and Linkedin, anything you can think of (even your wife's phone !!)... CONGRATULATIONS !! You have just been harrassed by a DEPRESSED 20-year-old AlphaSights graduate whose job is basically to be a professional harasser. Some poor employee who was promised a challenging, consulting-like job - who ended up being a poor little phone harasser. Overworked and underpaid, in an unethical as heck company with a power-thirsty little 20-year old "manager". DO NOT EVER work there. If this review can help a bright, innocent person not to be destroyed by this horrid company - I would be delighted. I am so ashamed and embarrassed to have worked there.

Pros

Big alphasighhh. The only pro was the train ride home to my overpriced room through zombie ridden San Francisco.

Cons

Hey you! Yeah you: recent college grad or desperate job hunter, yeahhh they come after you guys and show you the nice salary to get that glimmer of hope into your enthusiastic little eyes…until you realize it’s a churn and burn, depressing, sad place to be. The role itself is basically harassing random people all day trying to set up phone calls. You will be a depressed phone call appointment setter, looking out of the gloomy window for 10 hours a day wishing you could explore the city that you were ready to enjoy. If you’re lucky enough to make it past the all of the interviews, be prepared to uproot yourself for the move, in hopes you don’t get fired within the first 3-6 months! And if you do get fired, be ready to cough up that sign on bonus and give it back to greedy ol’ Max. After a long 10 hour, eye frying shift, you can then try to talk to your pretentious east coast graduate co-workers and see if you can click with them on any topic other than golf or money. Being Truthful: I was a just as excited as some of you are, ready to move and start a new career. This life draining, brain deadening job completely ruined my San Francisco experience, first corporate experience and my overall view of sales roles, which in reality are way more enjoyable. I would rather be punished like Prometheus than work at this borderline unethical cult of a “company.” Explore your options! Stay with family if you can, this economy is rough right now! Go at your pace and do what’s best for you which is anything other than AlphaSights.

Pros

Peers at the associate level are bright young professionals and you will likely make great friends (nothing quite like trauma bonding is there). If you can hack it for long enough it will build you a resilience that makes any job you have after feel like a walk in the park.

Cons

If you have any care for your quality of life or mental health then I beg you, please stay away from this company. I don't quite know how I survived the two years I worked there. The workload is insurmontable, and yet you are constantly being asked to do more (for no extra pay). The working hours are not only long (pretty much 8 to 7), you barely ever get a break throughout the day (no one ever leaves the office for coffee in the day or anything like that). You are micromanaged to the nth degree, with meetings 3 times a day to check up on how productive you have been that day, and essentially how much money you have made the company. You single handedly generate your entire annual salary in one months work but get no recognition for it. This company places no value on your human or social skills, instead only quantitative performance is credited. The top performers with no human skills get promoted to managers and are then completely incompetent when it comes to running a team of other human beings (hence why you are treated like a number rather than a person). Work from home has been restricted to Fridays only (if you're lucky and not a new joiner) and you will be policed. Have a doctor's appointment to go to? well that's just too bad, you'll have to go on the weekend! Oh and by the way, the job itself is also incredibly boring and tedious. It is essentially a fast paced sales role where your commission is dangled to you like a carrot, you spend all day on the phone cold calling experts and trying to convince your client to take a call with them, whilst trying to compete with other providers in the industry offering the same service for cheaper. I could go on and on but I will end this review here and just say that this company mistreats its talented young professionals who have come straight out of university and therefore have no benchmark to truly understand how toxic this work environment is. They do not deserve the talent they hire and will exploit every last drop of you until you find the courage to quit and run away. I cannot stress enough the consequences working at this company will have on your mental health, so please go work anywhere else but here.
