What you'll do:

• Lead the design, implementation, and integration of scalable AI/ML systems and services within the POI domain
• Independently solve complex, ambiguous problems, often requiring new perspectives or innovative approaches
• Develop advanced and original algorithmic solutions and ML models that address challenging, real-world use cases
• Contribute to the technical architecture and system design within your team’s scope
• Own and deliver end-to-end AI/ML solutions for large-scale initiatives, ensuring high quality, scalability, and maintainability
• Proactively identify risks and technical roadblocks, driving them to resolution
• Apply and champion industry best practices and standards, continuously improving systems, models, and processes
• Produce high-quality, production-level code and provide insightful code reviews to elevate team standards
• Act as a technical resource within the team, supporting and guiding less experienced colleagues
• Mentor Applied Scientists (Levels I–III) and contribute to team knowledge sharing and capability building
• Collaborate across teams and advise Product Managers, Program Managers, and leadership on AI/ML solutions and trade-offs

What you'll need:

• Strong, up-to-date expertise in Applied Science / Machine Learning techniques, particularly within POI, geospatial, or related domains
• Proven ability to design, build, and deploy scalable AI/ML systems in production environments
• Demonstrated experience solving complex, ambiguous problems, including situations where no clear precedent exists
• Ability to develop innovative algorithmic solutions and advanced ML models that address real-world challenges
• Solid understanding of system design and architecture, with the ability to contribute to technical direction within a team
• Deep understanding of product features and domain-specific systems, enabling effective decision-making and trade-off evaluation
• Strong coding skills with a focus on writing efficient, maintainable, and well-documented production-quality code
• Experience identifying and resolving technical risks, bottlenecks, and large-scale system challenges (e.g., refactoring, migrations, or performance improvements)
• Ability to work independently with high ownership, managing multiple challenges within a defined scope
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and explain complex technical concepts clearly
• Experience supporting or mentoring others, contributing to team growth and knowledge sharing
