I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Uber (San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2016
Interview
I spoke to recruiter and then worked through their online test. The online test is a 3-hour test and tests your ability on analytics and problem solving. They really want to know how you you think about Uber for their particular market and make sure that you can get going. A good thing to prepare is what is your 100 day plan for the particular market you are proposing.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The most difficult thing asked was the 100 day plan. It required really understanding the market and preparing accordingly. Would consider doing a bit of investigation beforehand.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Uber in Feb 2016
Interview
Starts with an online math test (simple use of excel) followed by a creative test (write blogs around new Uber services, answer customer issue emails, etc.). Once cleared, 3 rounds of interviews followed by a presentation.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1. Describe what you think you would be doing in the role
2. What processes (work streams) do you imagine Uber has on the demand side. What about on the supply side
3. How would you go about pricing UberX or any other new Uber product?
4. What new service or promo would you add at minimum investment and maximum return
5. Why did you apply for Uber? How do you fit in?
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Uber (Buenos Aires) in Dec 2015
Interview
1.- The recruiter sent me an email.
2.- She scheduled a ConCall.
3.- She arrived late to tell me we need to reschedule.
4.- We have the Skype call next day. On time.
5.- After 30' talk, usual stuff, she sent me the link to make a test. She said it was like a Mckinsey test.
6.- This is not a test, is more like an complete evaluation in different levels. MS-Excel is the first thing you need to know, then you have to know how to manage raw data and the most important, you have to know about UBER business like a regular employee (32 questions, in two hours).
7.- After that you have to be prepare for the second test. Not that analytical but more creative one.
8.- Three interviews: 2 with another GMs (if you get lucky, maybe those guys know about your region and problems) to finish with your future boss.
9.- The worst evaluation ever: After answering a million questions about Uber business, you have to build a business plan considering Uber business in your city for the next six months. I can't tell you how many info you have to manage to create this presentation and to talk for 90 minutes.
10.- Maybe you don't have to talk about 90 minutes, but you have to be prepare to.
11.- I guees UBER knows what they need for their new employees, but the climate is changing and I guess they should consider change the analytical part for the political one. New Uber management needs skills to talk with politics and union bosses, than any other thing.
