Applied on Linkedin and a company recruiter reached out to me a few weeks later to set up a screening call. I had read the other interview experiences on here before the call and did not walk into it with high expectations. The recruiter was pleasant enough (although she was 10 minutes late to the call) and began by having me walk through my experience and resume. It was as if she was reading off a script because she would ask me follow up questions that I had already addressed. This lasted about 10 minutes. She then asks what I expect in terms of salary. I was expecting this from the other reviews, but found it bold to ask before ever touching on the job duties or the company. I was cornered into giving a specific number and was outright that told they could not meet that figure (it was not an unreasonable one for my location). She said the salary was budgeted in the $40k range, about $20k less than the average for my area in this role. We ended the call from there as there was no point in continuing after that. By the way the "interview" was structured, it was obvious salary has been an issue with past applicants. Considering this, one would think they would explicitly state their salary range on job postings to avoid wasting everyone's time (including their own), but no such luck. 10/10 would not recommend
