First interview went well. Was longer than expected, consisting of 1 hour of questioning and a proof-reading test (that they did not warn about).
Second interview was conducted by the same 2 people as the first. I had prepared a critical commentary on a chapter extract and we discussed this. I then met with a more senior member of staff and had an informal chat.
Overall, the staff at Palgrave Macmillan were friendly and welcoming. However, the HR department at Springer Nature has some serious miscommunication issues. They messed up with my task for the second interview by forgetting to tell me about it until a few days before the interview. This gave me less time to prepare than other candidates.
Additionally, after my final interview I was told I would hear back in 3 days. I did not hear back for 3 weeks by which point I received a curt email informing me that an email should have been sent but must have been mislaid. During this time I called up the HR department 3 times, each time being informed that the decision was still being made. VERY DISORGANISED!
