Gave out a resume at a career fair on campus
asked to come to an info session and an on-campus interview the next day
Went to an info session on campus and gave another resume to an the presenter.
On-campus interview was a relaxed conversation where I got the feeling that the interviewer just wanted to make sure I am presentable and can communicate. Passed.
Very soon afterwards, got an email inviting me to Texas for and on-site interview.
They arranged flights and hotel.
Flew in on Thursday night and they arranged for dinner with a presentation that was similar to the one on the campus info session. At dinner, there were several company employees who were going to interview us the next day. There was a relaxed atmosphere and casualness in the conversation. The company employees
were open and answered questions and also invited us to go out that night but we had an early start to a long day after a long day of flying.
The next morning a bus took us at 7 am to a facility about an hour away and we got a tour of the grounds.
After a short break for refreshments, we split up into groups and gave presentations that we had prepared ahead of time. The presentations were on a research, academic or work project that had a technical core.
After the presentations, we had 1:1 interviews. About 25-45 minutes each. The interviewers were not professional HR personnel but working engineers and managers.
After the last interview, we had an "exit" interview and the buses took us to the various airports for flights back.
In less than a week, one of my school mates got an offer for employment upon graduation and accepted.
