Online interview with selections of answers and video questions need to be answered through recording
Was relatively easier than for example the big 4 interviews
Did not proceed to the assessment center stage
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at GSK (Bucarest, ) in Jun 2018
Interview
I applied online for GSK Bucharest Commercial Programme and then had a phone interview. All was going well. Then, received a call by the recruiter to talk about salaries, which is a very sensitive subject to talk before actually having the final interview. I was asked to say my figure, I said it, I gave reasons why, and when I asked back what is GSK Bucharest offering, I was told this is confidential. This is a total act of unprofessionalism and a way to filter candidates through how much they ask salary wise. I talked with people in the industry about this and they told me this is often done to get the people that request the smalles amounts of salaries - typical Romania...
I only gave a realistic and reasonable figure, according to my research done beforehand which gave me some indications on the salaries in the industry and on the role I applied for.
I was called a second time when they threw some benefits (really small and insignificant) and I was told to lower the amount I am requesting. I didn't comply because I don't like to sell myself just because the company wants that. However, I went just a bit lower (I wanted this job!) and the recruiter said that it sounds better and that I will be called for an interview.
I was never called back. I called them after the day of the potential interview, they had the guts to tell me that they've called me to tell me that my applications is unsuccesful and also to check my spam. I know how to use a phone and my email, so once again a big dose of unproffesionalism from their side.
It was a really bad experience, I've put a lot of effort in the online application and so on, I was told I am a strong candidate, however everything died after we discussed figures. Fine, you can't pay me what I want, at least tell me what you can offer. Don't throw 'confidential' stuff on the table because you're wasting my time. And you really did waste my time!
