I applied through other source. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at FedEx (Portland, OR) in Apr 2010
Interview
Called in to HR job line that I received from a job fair, left voicemail with contact information, was called back three days later for an interview. After you have a group interview you have to enter your info for a background check, if you pass said background check you get the job. Be sure to bring your work documents to the interview because they will not let you in without them.

Question 1
There were not really any questions in the interview, it was more of an information session.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at FedEx in Nov 2011
Interview
In order to apply you first must schedule a sort walk thru which basically you walk through the middle of the working day (usually morning shift 4:00 A.M, but time may vary). Then they tell you to come back and apply. Interview is straightforward, asking if you will be able to lift, walk, bend, etc. Upon getting hired you must watch a few videos about the job and review the employee handbook. They run a background check and do not drug test, unless you get hurt.
