I applied online. I interviewed at Elsevier (New York, NY)
Interview
A recruiter called me out of random at night and left a message. I attempted to call back multiple times and left messages. He never got back to me and ignored my message.

I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Elsevier (Irvine, CA) in Feb 2014
Interview
I met my manager at a networking event where I was offered an interview. I submitted my resume to her email that evening and was asked to interview the following week.

Interview
I was asked to apply for a role so I submitted my application through the RELX system. First off Elsevier have a real problem in that their internal garbled business language makes no sense to anyone outside the organisation. Acronyms, assumptions about their messy re-organised structure make it almost impossible to work out what a job entails before getting to the interview. HR did well to encourage me to stick with the process but their managers who interviewed me are clearly underpowered and promoted above their capability. They asked really naïve questions despite their seniority and clearly didn't understand their own business but exist in well paid jobs hidden in the Elsevier business labyrinth. I declined to go further as the management would have made my daily life very difficult. The senior positions are not strong enough and they've filled the gaps with external hires from consultancy firms. It looks and feels wrong for the market and the product.
