Interview
ros:
• The interview process gave me an opportunity to engage with professional team members.
• Discover is a well-regarded company with a positive reputation in the industry, and I had a great impression of the team’s work culture.
Cons:
• I was unfortunately ghosted after following up multiple times regarding my application. Despite reaching out several times to ask for an update on the status of my candidacy, I did not receive any meaningful responses or clarity.
• I understand that companies may choose other candidates, but it’s essential that this decision be communicated clearly to applicants. The lack of transparency regarding timelines and the absence of follow-up after multiple inquiries made the process feel disorganized and disrespectful of my time.
• Additionally, the hiring manager did not ask the right questions regarding my experience. The interview felt disconnected from the actual requirements of the role. To make matters worse, their explanation of the role contradicted the job description, leaving me confused about the position’s actual responsibilities.
• Communication and alignment are crucial for a positive candidate experience. It would have been helpful if the role’s expectations were more clearly defined and if the hiring team took the time to focus on my qualifications as they related to the position.
Advice to Management:
• Clear, consistent, and timely communication is necessary throughout the hiring process. If timelines shift or decisions are made to move forward with other candidates, applicants deserve to be informed and treated with respect.
• Ensuring alignment between the job description, the hiring manager’s questions, and the role’s actual responsibilities is key to making the interview process meaningful. Misalignment creates confusion and frustration.
• I would suggest enhancing the transparency of the recruitment process to avoid candidates feeling neglected or left in the dark. This would also help maintain Discover’s strong reputation.
