I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One in Jan 2008
Interview
Start with a link that was sent via email to an online assessment test. The online assessment test reminded me of my GMAT math and verbal, so preparation using those text books should be helpful. From then, contacted for an on-site interview.
I didn't get an offer after that..
The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Capital One (McLean, VA) in Jan 2009
Interview
Standard personality assesment as well as a reading comprehension/reasoning test and a numerical reasoning test. The numerical reasoning test was the most challenging. I was advised to "study" prior to taking them (all on line and at my convenience). I recommend looking at thier website as they have several resources to prepare you for the exams.
The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One in Apr 2008
Interview
Took the math test along with everyone else, which was a snap. On-campus interview was straightforward, involving a case study as discussed by others, but I got tripped up on silly things, and pretty much blew it from the start. As the interview started with that part, the rest was a little awkward as I asked pro forma questions about the company while we both knew the outcome of the interview. I saw him check the "go no further with this candidate" box on my way out. Oops.
