Interview
Okay, this was by FAR the weirdest interview i've ever had! First, the person who met me at reception didn't really know where we were going. She was frazzled, confused and seemed to be at a complete loss as to where the actual conference room was we were going to. This was the 1st thing i thought was strange....the interview was so boring i couldn't help but start thinking about what i wanted for lunch. When the interviewer said, 'we like to have a lot of fun around here', my initial response was 'really?'....because it didn't seem to me there was much fun to be had here at this office. Once i interviewed with the employee experience person or whatever, she seemed so fake, i knew this job was probably a nightmare. The hiring manager was the worst though, stone faced, rude, when i asked her if i was supposed to see anyone at the end of my interview with her, the response was 'i thought you had to go somewhere and were unable to stay longer'...which was true, i did. I just lost track of time because i was so bored for the last two hours i'd been there interviewing with some of the most boring and fake people i've ever met. OH, and the phone screen with the GM? He talked about himself for the entire 30 mins, asked me questions and then answered them himself....was the easiest interview i ever had! All in all, the environment here seems toxic. Certainly for this group. Maybe there are other departments at AppD that are great and deserving of almost a five star rating, but there are so many other great places to work and i find it hard to believe that this place would be one of them!
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at AppDynamics (Bengaluru) in Sep 2019
Interview
It started with a cold call from the HR through LinkedIn to check if my professional experience is a match for what they were looking for. Throughout the process two HR professionals were involved in scheduling calls and planning my onsite interviews. I had a 45 minute phone interview with one of the Product Managers from the Bengaluru office. The HR called me up and shared the positive feedback for my phone interview and scheduled the next one with the VP of Product Management from the London office. This was a video call that lasted for 1.5 hours. The HR informed me of the positive response from the last interviewer and scheduled my onsite interview process with 4 other Software Engineering Managers. Since I was based out of Chennai, they arranged for flights and travel reimbursements. I should particularly mention the resourcefulness of Roshni, the HR who was mediating the process. Due to an unforeseen circumstance, I missed my morning flight. She helped me arrange for another one. She went out of her way to answer my calls as early as 5:30 a.m in the morning and promptly arranged reimbursements from the flight authorities. This one amazing experience shows how employee friendly the company is.
