Question 1
What is an example of a situation that you had to dive deep to understand a problem.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Apr 2025
Interview
This was one of the most disappointing and ineffective interviews I’ve experienced. The conversation was led by two individuals involved solely in the recruiting process—neither of whom were the decision-maker—yet were tasked with evaluating my qualifications based on a limited set of scripted questions. The interview felt impersonal and mechanical, lacking any real engagement with my professional background. Furthermore, the lead interviewer struggled to articulate follow-up questions clearly, making communication difficult and the entire exchange feel more like a standardized test than a meaningful dialogue about my experience or fit for the role.
I also find it unacceptable that, after specifically requesting feedback to improve my interviewing skills, I received no follow-up at all. This lack of professional courtesy reflects poorly on Amazon’s candidate experience. It’s evident that the process prioritizes algorithmic, rehearsed responses to behavioral questions over assessing true qualifications and relevant experience. Additionally, it’s concerning that I was not given the opportunity to speak with the hiring manager—the person I would potentially be working with—after completing a rigorous assessment. Interviews should be a two-way street, offering candidates a clear view of the team and role expectations. Unfortunately, that standard was not met here.

Interview
Very nice people - surprisingly actually based on company reputation. The 4 hour loop can be a bit taxing. Make sure you get some rate prior and... hydrate! Really recommend finding some of the typical questions on line, don't think they change much.
